Hiking in Catalonia
What we personally love about hiking here is the combination of nature, tranquility, and local life. You not only walk through beautiful landscapes but also pass by small villages, cafes, and places you wouldn't easily discover otherwise.
We would like to share 5 of our favorite hiking areas, easily accessible from Torre Nova.
1. Hiking routes directly from Torre Nova
We have mapped out a number of routes ourselves around Torre Nova (which can be found on Wikiloc). You hike directly into the hills from the resort, past vineyards, farms, and small villages, often with views over the valley.
What our guests notice most here is the tranquility: you encounter few people and often have the landscape almost entirely to yourself.

2. Montserrat (near Torre Nova)
The Montserrat mountain remains extraordinary, no matter how often you visit. The rugged rock formations and panoramic views make every hike here impressive. This is one of the most popular hiking areas in Catalonia.
There are routes for every level, from short walks to strenuous treks to the summits. It is easily accessible from Torre Nova, making it an ideal spot for a day trip.

3. Montseny (nature park)
The Montseny nature park, with its completely different atmosphere, is located about an hour and a half's drive away. Here you walk through forests, along streams and a reservoir, in a more mountainous environment.

4. Congost del Mont Rebei (Spectacular Gorge)
For those seeking something really impressive, the Congost del Mont Rebei is highly recommended. The path is built against the rock face and overlooks the water in the gorge.
The hike is spectacular, but manageable if you are not afraid of heights. It is a bit of a drive (about 2 hours), but perfectly doable as a day trip and absolutely worth it.

5. Coastal Walks (Costa Dorada & Costa Brave)
Beautiful walks are also possible along the coast, past cliffs, small bays, and beaches. These routes combine well with a day at the seaside and provide a nice change of pace during your stay.

For those wanting to head further into the mountains
For high mountain enthusiasts, the Catalan Pyrenees are highly recommended, with the highlight being the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. Here you will find mountain lakes, waterfalls, and impressive landscapes. It is about a 2 hour and 45 minute drive away, but is easily manageable as a day trip or as part of a tour.

Best time for hiking
In our opinion, spring and autumn are the most beautiful times for hiking in Catalonia. The temperatures are pleasant, nature is at its most beautiful, and it is quieter than in the summer.
Hiking in Catalonia is varied, accessible, and surprisingly peaceful. It is precisely the combination of nature, culture, and gastronomy that makes it such a wonderful destination.
At Torre Nova, you stay centrally in the region and can easily combine many of these hikes. You discover Catalonia at your own pace — active when you want, and relaxed as soon as you return to the estate. After a hike, it is lovely to unwind by the pool or on your terrace.
