Torre Nova Resort is a small-scale holiday resort set on a 19th-century Catalan estate in the green inland hills of Catalonia. The resort has eight spacious, high-end holiday apartments with plenty of privacy and a personal feel. You stay with Dutch owners Jacqueline and Geert, who love to share their personal tips through an extensive online guide, the Torre Nova Experience. The atmosphere is calm, well-kept and personal, without the bustle of a large hotel or mass-tourism resort.
Torre Nova Resort combines small scale, comfort and a unique location in the authentic Catalan countryside. Where many accommodations in Catalonia focus on the beach or the city, Torre Nova offers tranquillity and nature as a starting point, with Barcelona just 55 kilometres away and the beaches of the Costa Dorada only 35 kilometres. The Torre Nova Experience is equally distinctive: a curated collection of personal, off the beaten track tips that help you discover places you would never find on your own, from local festivals with human towers (Castells) to hidden restaurants and walking routes.
Guests often call Torre Nova Resort a 'wow holiday'. In reviews the same themes come up time and again: the peace, the spaciousness of the apartments, the personal hospitality of Jacqueline and Geert, and the surprisingly rich surroundings combined with the proximity of Barcelona and the Costa Dorada. Many guests compare the setting to Tuscany, green, hilly and authentic, yet with a world-class city and the sea a short drive away. Many guests return.
Everything at Torre Nova Resort is designed around tranquillity, quality and personal attention. That means a limited number of apartments and no entertainment programme. Rather than running its own restaurant or bar, the resort lets you enjoy the rich offering in the village and the surrounding area, from the local bakery for fresh morning bread to excellent restaurants tucked away in the Catalan hills. And rather than being a beach resort, Torre Nova sits in a green, authentic landscape with the Costa Dorada beaches just 35 minutes by car. Every choice has been made to give you the freedom to discover Catalonia at your own pace and in your own way.
Torre Nova Resort is located in the medieval village of La Torre de Claramunt, in the green inland hills of Catalonia. Barcelona is approximately 55 kilometres away and the beaches of the Costa Dorada roughly 35 kilometres, about 35 minutes by car. Despite its tranquil setting, the resort is far from remote: the village has shops and restaurants within walking distance, and both the city and the coast are easily reached by car. Think rolling green hills, authentic village life and a wonderfully relaxed pace.
More than you might expect. You can combine relaxation at the resort with walking and cycling in the green hills, visiting local markets and restaurants, wine tastings in the Penedès wine region and day trips to the spectacular Montserrat. Barcelona is an hour's drive away for culture, architecture and city life. The Costa Dorada beaches are within 35 minutes for a beach day. Jacqueline and Geert share all their personal off the beaten track tips through the Torre Nova Experience, so you get to know the real Catalonia, often places where no other tourists venture.
Torre Nova Resort sits centrally between Barcelona and the Costa Dorada, at 55 and 35 kilometres respectively. Many guests want to visit both but prefer not to stay amid the crowds. Torre Nova offers exactly that: a peaceful, green base with the freedom to visit the city and the beach whenever you feel like it. The beaches are 35 minutes away, Barcelona under an hour. After a day at the sea or in the city, you come back to stillness, space and nature. Guests regularly call this 'the best of both worlds'.
Absolutely. Catalonia is best known for vibrant Barcelona and its popular coastal resorts, but the region has an entirely different and lesser-known side. The inland area where Torre Nova Resort is located offers green hills, authentic villages and a relaxed rhythm of life, while Barcelona and the Costa Dorada remain a short drive away. Torre Nova is certainly not remote. Guests who discover this side of Catalonia are often pleasantly surprised by the tranquillity, the gastronomy and the rich culture.
Very much so. Torre Nova borders the medieval village on one side and open countryside on the other, so walking and cycling literally start from the resort. You will find a range of routes in the immediate surroundings, from gentle village walks to longer treks through green hills past farms and vineyards. The resort offers scenic GPS routes via the WikiLoc app. The spectacular Montserrat natural park is a 25-minute drive and offers remarkable hiking. What makes Torre Nova particularly appealing as a base for walkers and cyclists is the variety: after a day of walking you enjoy the local gastronomy, and on quieter days you combine nature with a day trip to Barcelona or a beach day on the Costa Dorada, just 35 minutes away. A number of bicycles are available, and if you bring your own you can store them at the resort.
Within the village centre, all within 150 metres walking distance, you will find restaurants, bars, the village bakery, small supermarkets, a health centre and a pharmacy. Within 5 to 15 minutes by car there are large supermarkets (Mercadona, Condis, Dia, Carrefour), a range of excellent restaurants, a petrol station, banks with ATMs and a hospital. Everything you need is close at hand.
Yes. There are three fine golf courses in the region. One lies at the foot of Montserrat, 20 minutes away, the second near Manresa, also 20 minutes, and the third in Sitges, directly on the coast, at 30 minutes.
For some highlights in Barcelona it is a good idea to buy tickets online in advance, such as the Sagrada Família, Parc Güell, the Gaudí houses, the Picasso Museum and FC Barcelona. For most other sights and events in the region this is not necessary. Jacqueline and Geert are happy to help you plan what to visit, and if you like, they will print your tickets for you.
Torre Nova Resort has a deliberate seasonal rhythm. In spring and autumn, from April through June and September through October, the atmosphere is exceptionally calm and serene. The pleasantly mild climate, the blossoming landscape and the relaxed surroundings invite walking, reading, culinary discovery and exploring Catalonia at your own pace. During the summer months and school holidays there is more liveliness: children play in the garden and by the pool, and there is a sociable yet still intimate holiday atmosphere.
Spring and autumn are a particularly rewarding time at Torre Nova Resort. Temperatures are pleasant, the surroundings are green and in bloom, and the resort is at its most peaceful. You have the stillness, the space and the freedom to experience Catalonia without the bustle of high season. Nature, culture and gastronomy take centre stage: walking and cycling in the hills, discovering local restaurants, a day in Barcelona or a relaxed beach day on the Costa Dorada. The choice and the pace are entirely yours.
During the summer months and school holidays, Torre Nova Resort combines relaxation with liveliness. The large garden and heated pool are the heart of the resort, and there is plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors. Children play freely in a safe, manageable setting and naturally find Dutch-speaking playmates, during school holidays there are typically around 15 children at the resort, from toddlers to teenagers. At the same time, it stays small-scale and peaceful. There is no entertainment programme or daily activities, just the freedom to shape each day as you wish: a day at the beach, a trip to Barcelona, or simply doing nothing by the pool.
That depends on what you are looking for. If you want maximum tranquillity and a relaxed atmosphere, choose spring or autumn. The climate is mild and pleasant, and the resort is at its quietest. Families who enjoy a bit more liveliness and a holiday where children play freely outdoors tend to choose the summer months or school holidays. In every season, the surroundings offer the same variety: nature, culture, outdoor activities, gastronomy, Barcelona and the Costa Dorada.
Torre Nova Resort has seven apartments and a detached bungalow. Each one features a spacious living and dining area with kitchen, one to three bedrooms, one to two bathrooms and a garden terrace or one to three balconies. The apartments are larger than average, fully equipped and furnished with an eye for comfort and style. They offer generous privacy, so you truly feel at home, whether you are travelling as a couple or with a larger group.
On arrival you will find a welcome package with a bottle of wine from the region, fruit juice, water, olive oil, pepper and salt. Bed linen, bathroom towels and kitchen linen are included, along with a Nespresso machine, filter coffee maker, kettle, microwave and hairdryer. The only thing to bring yourself is towels for the pool and beach, though a few are available to borrow at the resort.
Yes. The fully equipped kitchen, the space and the comfort of the apartments make Torre Nova Resort very well suited for stays of more than a week. The variety of the surroundings means there is always something new to discover, even on longer stays or return visits.
Yes. Cots, high chairs, changing mats and baby baths are available. There are also armbands for little ones at the pool. If you have any specific needs, just let us know in advance.
The apartments do not have their own washing machine, but Jacqueline and Geert are happy to do a load of laundry for you. At € 10 per wash, everything is returned to you dry.
The pool measures 15 by 5 metres and is 1 to 1.5 metres deep, so adults can stand comfortably throughout. It is filled with water from the resort's own natural spring and sustainably treated with salt electrolysis, no chemical chlorine is used. In spring and autumn the pool is heated by a heat pump. For the youngest children there is an inflatable paddling pool, and there is an outdoor shower by the pool.
Besides the pool and spacious garden, the resort has a small wellness area with sauna and jacuzzi, a table tennis table, a trampoline, a pétanque court, a children's playground with slide, swing, seesaw and playhouse, toys, a chess and draughts table, and books for children and adults. A number of bicycles are available. There is ample parking on a gated site and a charging point for electric vehicles.
Torre Nova Resort deliberately does not offer its own breakfast, but the village has two lovely options within walking distance for fresh bread and a wonderful breakfast on your own terrace or balcony. At restaurant 3x3 you can also sit down for a full breakfast, indoors or on the terrace, at € 12 per person (€ 5 for children up to 7). You can reserve via WhatsApp or through Jacqueline and Geert. At village baker Rafael's you pick up fresh baguettes in the morning and enjoy a coffee on his terrace. Both are within 150 metres of the resort.
Torre Nova Resort offers a holiday where tranquillity, comfort and privacy are the starting point. You stay in a spacious, high-end apartment on a beautiful Catalan estate, with a heated pool, a well-kept garden and a personal atmosphere. The surroundings offer a surprising amount of variety, from nature and gastronomy to Barcelona and the beach a short drive away, and Jacqueline and Geert are always happy to help you make the most of your stay. The vibe is warm but never intrusive: you decide entirely for yourself how active or relaxed each day will be.
If the beach is part of your holiday, absolutely. The Costa Dorada beaches are within 35 minutes and many guests visit them as a day out, alternating with nature, culture and relaxation at the resort. If the beach is the centrepiece of your holiday, however, and you prefer to walk to the sea each day, a stay on the coast will probably suit you better.
Yes. Barcelona is approximately 55 kilometres away and works very well as a day trip. Many guests combine their stay with one or more visits to the city. The great thing is that after a day in the city you come back to the calm of the Catalan countryside. If you want to spend your entire holiday in an urban setting, though, you are better off staying in the city itself.
Your apartment is available from 15.00. If you arrive earlier, feel free to enjoy the pool, pick up some groceries in the village or have lunch at one of the restaurants within walking distance. Late arrival is no problem either. Check-out is by 11.00.
Smoking inside the apartments is not permitted. On your own terrace or balcony it is fine. In communal areas we ask you to be considerate of other guests.
Unfortunately, pets are not permitted at Torre Nova Resort.
Yes. The apartments are generously proportioned with wide doorways, no thresholds and spacious bathrooms. The resort also has a lift to reach the upper floors. We recommend discussing any specific needs with us in advance, so we can allocate the most suitable apartment.
Sustainability at Torre Nova Resort is not a statement but a natural part of how the resort is set up. There are solar panels for electricity and hot water, an own water source, underfloor heating powered by solar energy, a heat pump for heating the pool in spring and autumn, a charging point for electric vehicles and waste separation, without compromising on comfort or the holiday experience.

Not for the area around Torre Nova or the rest of Catalonia. Barcelona has had a low-emission zone in the inner ring since 2020. Spanish hire cars carry the required sticker, but if you are driving a car registered in the Netherlands or Belgium, you need a daily permit (€ 5 per day) which can be applied for online via the AMB website. Tip: no permit is required at weekends or on public holidays. Jacqueline and Geert are happy to help if you have any questions.
