LUNCH AND DINNER
Torre Nova does not have its own restaurant, but all apartments offer a fully equipped kitchen, so that you can cook to your own liking. You can also pick up food in the village or order pizza, see the page 'Amenities in the village and the region'.
In our village you will find a few simple restaurants and in the immediate vicinity we have listed a number of excellent restaurants for you. There is an extensive choice in Igualada, Vilafranca del Penedès and of course Barcelona.
Spain has a lunch culture and people often eat out at noon (which is at 1.30 pm ;). Almost all restaurants in our region have a daily three-course lunch menu (ask for the 'menú del día'). Including drinks and cheap (€10 - €20), much cheaper than in the tourist areas.
On weekends and evenings you usually order a la carte. In the evening, most restaurants in our region are not always open for dinner, usually at the end of the week. We have always added the opening days and evenings and also if reservations are necessary or advisable. Of course you can dine every night in Igualada and places like Barcelona and Sitges.
Meal times in Spain are different than you are used to in Northern Europe:
- breakfast from 8.30 - 10.30 am
- lunch time from 1:30 – 4 pm
- dinner from 8.30 – 11.30 pm
In our village you can visit La Mozarella earlier in the evening (from 8 pm). But no one will be surprised if you enter a restaurant at 10.30 pm. Babies and children are more than welcome in all restaurants in Spain. If your baby starts crying, everyone will come to comfort ;) Spaniards are cheerful people, when it is busy it can sometimes get loud.
A lot of meat and fish is eaten. You often eat salad or vegetables in Spain as a starter. The main course therefore often contains less vegetables / garnish than you are possibly used to.
Below you will find all our favorite addresses in the village, the immediate vicinity, Igualada, Vilafranca del Penedès and Barcelona. We have indicated at each restaurant whether it is wise to make a reservation (recommended in any case at the weekend). You can pay everywhere with your credit or debit card with pin code.

La Mozzarella (Ponderosa) (150 m)
A simple village restaurant that serves sandwiches, tapas, pizzas and pasta dishes. They also have delicious Italian ice cream. Also take-away. Cheap and delicious Spanish chaos ;). The menu can be found below. Advantage is that you can eat here from 7.30 pm, earlier than the usual dinner time in Spain, ideal for parents with small children. Open all day, closed on Mondays. Reservation is not necessary. Leave the gate, follow the road straight out of the village, after 150 m at your right side.

Castell d'Orpí (15 minutes drive - Google maps)
Our absolute number one: you should not miss this lunch restaurant ! We often say 'if you're doing something on Torre Nova, go here for lunch'. Be sure to book a few days in advance or even before your arrival, because the restaurant is very popular with the locals! Run by the Catalan Urgell family. High-quality, honest Catalan cuisine in a beautifully situated medieval castle.
Weekday menu price approx. € 19 for 3 courses including drinks (a surcharge applies for some dishes). At the weekend lunch is a la carte and slightly more expensive, but still cheap for what you get by Northern European standards. The cook Juli and his son Alex rule the kitchen and mother Pepita serves. Try the entrecote (barely fits on your plate), the lamb from the oven ('espattla de xai'), BBQ lamb chops ('xai a la brasa'), 'botifarra a la brasa' (delicious spiced BBQ Catalan sausage, specialty of the region) or the 'pollo a la brasa' (half BBQ chicken). There is a daily menu with several choices. Excellent local wines (like the delicious Can Feixes white or red). Lunch from Monday to Sunday (1.30 pm – 4 pm). Closed on Wednesday and in the evening. Vinyanova (20 minutes drive - Google maps)
Beautifully located restaurant at the foot of Montserrat mountain. Lovely outdoor terrace and beautiful views at the olive groves. Wide choice of daily menus. Perfect for lunch after visiting Montserrat in the morning. Open from Wednesday to Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm. In July and August from Monday to Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm and in the evening from Wednesday to Sunday from 8 pm to midnight. Reservations recommended, which can also be done online. Masia Vinya Nova sin numero, El Bruc Residencial. Take the C-15 towards Igualada and then the A2 towards Barcelona and take exit 572. Turn right and follow the signs 'Vinyanova restaurant' for about 3 km (pay attention!) through the olive groves.
Cal Frare (20 minutes drive - Google maps)

Another Excellent traditional Catalan restaurant in a beautiful farmhouse near Montserrat. Open for lunch Tuesday to Sunday 13 - 16.30 h, dinner Friday and Saturday evenings 20- 23 h. In Igualada (15 min)
In Igualada there is a wide choice for good food. The prices are very reasonable, because it is not a touristic city. Most restaurants also serve vegetarian dishes. For vegetarian restaurants see 'In Igualada - vegetarian restaurants'.
Park in Parking de la Creu (Passeig de les Cabres 16, Igualada - Google maps) or the car park at Plaça Cal Font (Google maps) and use Google maps to walk to the restaurants.

Recommended! Excellent restaurant located on the cozy Rambla of Igualada. In the summer you can eat outside on the terrace. Open Tuesday to Saturday for dinner from 20 – 23 h. El Jardi
Recommended! Excellent Catalan restaurant, no outside terrace but quality food. Open for lunch on Mondays and Wednesday to Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm. Wine bar Es Moss
On the same square as El Passadis, next to the town hall you will find Enoteca Es Moss, a cozy wine bar and the perfect place for a drink in the late afternoon or evening. Somia Truites
Recommended! Trendy restaurant with a 'rising star' top chef and very special dishes. The daily menu costs around €15, a la carte at weekends and in the evenings. The restaurant is located in a former tannery and has a modern industrial look. Opening hours: lunch Monday to Saturday 13 - 16 pm and dinner 20 - 12 pm. Dinner Tuesday to Saturday 8 pm – 11 pm. Recommended! Open all evenings. Excellent restaurant with varied cuisine: tapas and local dishes, but also an extensive choice of sushi. Asador El Mesón del Abuelo
Real Spanish grill restaurant and the best meat restaurant in Igualada. If you are a meat lover, then you've come to the right place. Delicious solomillos or share the giant chuletón (see photo). Located outside the center and no outdoor terrace, but delicious food and local Spanish ambience. Open for lunch from Monday to Sunday from 1 pm - 4 pm. In Vilafranca del Penedès (25 min)
Follow the C-15 to Vilafranca del Penedès and take the center exit. Park in the Rambla de Nostra Senyora car park (Google maps) and use Google maps to walk to the restaurant (1 to 5 minutes).
La Fábrica
La Fabrica is located in a former pasta factory and offers Calan cuisine, pizza, pasta and sushi of excellent quality. Lunch from Monday to Saturday from 13:00 – 15:30.
